Hunter was established in 1856 by American entrepreneur Henry Lee Norris landing in Edinburgh, Scotland. He founded the North British Rubber Company that later became Hunter. Henry invented many industrial items using the newly patented vulcanised rubber he made his famous rubber boots. Time passed, and World War I and II brought fame and money to the North British Rubber Company as the War Office commissioned the company to work 24/7 manufacturing these sturdy rubber boots for soldiers.
Mid way through the 1950's, Hunter created the Original Green Wellington boot which became an iconic design of Wellington boots and the Hunter brand. After years of service to the British army and the public, Hunter was awarded the Royal Warrant by Appointment to HRH Duke of Edinburgh and later to HM The Queen in 1986, an accolade of the highest order.
