School’s out, the sun is out, and the heat wave is here! Now that the British summer is in full swing, there couldn’t be a better time to do a round up of all our summer essentials. We’ve rounded up the products that we, here at Shuperb, have been loving over the warmer months. From skincare, to beauty, to fashion, we’ve got everything covered. Get ready for sunset walks on the beach, al fresco dinner dates, and ice creams in the park with the following products that are bound to become your new summer beauty and wardrobe staples!
Keeping Your Skin Safe
Let’s kick things off with skincare, and it’s no surprise that SPF is on the top our list. There are hundreds of sunscreens to choose from, so which one do you go for? Well, first of all, it’s important to note that sun lotions can vary massively in price. You could pay up to £40 for a small bottle of sun cream, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that you are getting the best sun protection. When it comes to sunscreen, you must look out for SPF rating and UVA protection. The SPF refers to how long it can protect you from the sun’s harmful rays, so the higher the SPF, the better. However, SPF can only protect you from UVB rays that damage the top layer of your skin, so it’s essential that you choose a sun cream with UVA protection too. This will protect you from the rays that can penetrate through deeper layers of the skin. Unfortunately, not every sunscreen on the market claims to have UVA protection, so we recommend the Solait sun lotion range from Superdrug that has a 5 star UVA protection rating. Their creams are hydrating, water resistant, lightweight, and non-greasy, which makes them good for almost any activity. At £4.49 a bottle, they won’t break the bank either! It’s also cruelty-free making it a great vegan option, find out more on Beth’s blog Toasty.

Cooling Off In Style
Perfect for those scorching summer days when you can’t seem to escape the heat, face mists offer a quick, easy and fun way to cool off. We fell in love with The Body Shop’s fruity fragranced collection of face mists that are the perfect size to slot into your handbag. Our particular favourite is the Rose Dewy Glow Face Mist, which not only cools you down, but also refreshes cakey makeup. It works miracles, and it also adds a luminous glow to tired-looking complexions! Simply spritz a few pumps of the deliciously scented mist onto your face whenever you think it’s needed. If you’re after something slightly sweeter, the face mist is also available in strawberry or coconut scents. However, if energising fragrances are more your thing, there is a mandarin or a mint face mist to choose from too. Either way, we are sure you’ll find a scent that you will love!
Achieve A Dewy Glow Without Oily Shininess
During the summer months, it can be hard to keep up the sun-kissed, dewy makeup look that we all lust over without getting too oily. Nonetheless, with Benefit’s brand new Porefessional Pearl Primer, a luminous complexion can be achieved no matter how hot it is. The original Porefessional Primer quickly became a best seller in the beauty industry due to its ability to minimise the look of pores, and stop any excess oil from reaching the skin’s surface. Luckily, the pearl primer maintains the power of Benefit’s first Porefessional primer, but also has additional brightening properties that produce a luminous complexion. Although it carries quite a steep price tag at £27.50, Benefit are giving us the ability to have the best of both worlds with this amazing product!
A Lipstick That Hydrates AND Looks Great
To perfect the sun-kissed, dewy makeup look that can be achieved with the Benefit primer, add a pop of colour with a bright lipstick of your choice. If you’re after a cult classic, or something ultra luxurious, head towards your nearest Yves Saint Laurent beauty counter where you can pick up one of their Rouge Volupté Shine Lipsticks. Our favourite shade is number 12, Coral Incandescent, which, if you haven’t already guessed, is a gorgeous bright pinky coral shade. The gold, weighty packaging is a dream, and the product inside is even more indulgent. The moisturising lipstick formula helps the product to glide on with ease, and all 30 of the shades boast a super glossy finish, which is perfect for this time of year. Even better, they have a yummy tropical watermelon scent that is totally unique and makes application ever more enjoyable.
Trend Alert: Net Tote Bags
This is the MANGO bag that has taken the fashion blogging industry by storm, and we think that it’s totally worth the hype. The unique netting detail and wooden handles are ultra stylish and unlike anything else we’ve seen on the high street. It boasts a designer look at a fraction of the price. The bucket bag style is a design classic, and the drawstring inner compartment will keep all of your valuables safe and secure. Although the tan is our favourite shade, this bag also comes in two other great neutral colours – cream and black. Whichever colour you go for, you can be sure that this bag is a fantastically versatile piece, and the perfect addition to your summer wardrobe.
If like us, your favourite pair of denim jeans have been replaced by cute summer dresses over the past few months, why not bring the denim back in your choice of outerwear? Our essential piece for the British summer is a denim jacket, and we love white denim in particular for the summer months. Like blue denim, white denim goes with everything, but the lighter colour is more summer appropriate. Check out this white denim jacket from Weekday, which comes in at £55. The distressed details and frayed edges create a cool and modern look, whilst the 100% organic cotton material is comfortable and breathable.
Don’t Forget The Shoes!
Let’s round off our summer essentials with shoes, and we are sure that a summer sandal can’t be topped! Here at Shuperb, we have a huge range of brands and sandal designs to choose from. From Birkenstocks, to Fitflops, to Crocs, we are sure you’ll find a summer sandal that you’ll love. Perhaps one sandal that doesn’t receive as much credit as it should is the Lucillia leather gladiator sandal. It comes in four different shades – black, natural, white, and our personal favourites, bronze. The neutral bronze colour can be styled with just about anything, and the metallic effect on this particular design is smart enough for evening wear too. Currently on sale for £21, this shoe is an absolute steal, so be sure to take a look.
Challenge Summer Trends: Go For Boots Instead
People often neglect boots in the summer – they’re viewed as being cosy and only good for keeping feet warm on chilly days. Yet this is not always true. POPPS desert boots are the perfect item to finish any summery outfit. They are unlined for maximum breathability and coolness, and the new summer collection boasts vibrant, stylish colourways which are great for summer! Available in Rose Pink, Ocean Blue and Mustard Yellow, to name a few, you’re sure to find a pair to match your style. You can co-ordinate your accessories to match, or simply add them to a duller outfit to add a pop of colour. The boot style provides you with more support than sandals, making them better for sunny days spent walking or admiring sights. Seen on blogger Robyn Poppy, these should find a place in everyone’s wardrobe during the heatwave.
