Founded in 1853, Aigle have a rich tradition in hand making high quality rubber boots. Each pair is painstakingly crafted by one of Aigle's 200 master rubber craftsmen to ensure the best possible protection from the elements.
Aigle was founded in 1853 by Hiram Hutchinson, when, whilst living in France he bought the patent for vulcanising rubber from Charles Goodyear and created the brand 'A L' Aigle' (A reference to the bald eagle, America's national symbol) producing hand crafted rubber boots, a practice that they still strongly adhere to over 160 years down the line.
Each of Aigle's master craftsmen, trains for a 2 year period, until they have truly mastered their art and the over 60 steps to successfully create just one rubber boot. Every item is individually checked for waterproofing before it can proudly carry the Aigle name. Still based out of their native France, Aigle produces nearly 4000 pairs of boots a day, with nearly 2kg of natural organic rubber needed to create just one pair.
